Gard alternative
A Gard alternative that looks past the spelling pass.
Gard (formerly imgProof) proofreads the text in images and PDFs well. Wrong prices, drifting versions and unfaithful translations go deeper than spelling. Here’s what a real alternative has to cover, and how LYNCE does it.
Why teams go looking.
The typo wasn’t the expensive mistake
Spelling passes catch “Recieve”. They can’t know the brief approved €40, so a perfectly spelled €45 sails through. Teams whose incidents are factual need verification against references, not just dictionaries.
The versions have to agree
A campaign ships in a dozen sizes. Gard’s own ad-proofing FAQ says a batch scan isn’t confirmation that every placement uses the same approved offer, and its guides leave that check to you. LYNCE scans the set together and flags the version that disagrees with the others.
The translation has a master
Gard names translation errors on its homepage and reads 50+ languages, and it recommends a fluent reviewer for the suggestions. What it doesn’t list is checking a language version against the master copy. LYNCE verifies each version against the master you attach.
Gard details are taken from Gard’s public website (trygard.com) as of 22 October 2026 and may change; verify current features and pricing with Gard before deciding. “Not listed” means we couldn’t find the capability documented there, not that it’s impossible.
What a Gard alternative must cover.
Keep everything the spelling pass does, then add the context layer. An alternative that catches fewer typos than Gard isn’t one, and one that stops at typos isn’t either.
LYNCE clears the list on the right: same artwork-level reading, plus reference checks, consistency and translations, with severities and suggested fixes on every finding.
Evidence, not vibes.
A LYNCE finding names what it found, where it sits on the artwork, which source contradicts it and what the fix is. Your team then confirms or rejects it, and the whole report forwards as a link.
Both have watch folders on desktop: Gard scans on save, LYNCE queues new files and checks them once you confirm. See the full LYNCE vs Gard comparison.
