imgProof alternative
An imgProof alternative that reads the brief, too.
imgProof is now called Gard, and it still does what it set out to do: catch typos in images. If your costly mistakes are wrong prices, dates and versions that disagree, you need a check that reads the artwork against your references.
Looking for an imgProof alternative? Start with the news: imgProof hasn’t disappeared. According to Gard’s own announcement, it was renamed Gard in March 2026, and existing accounts carry over. So the useful question is whether a spelling-focused image proofreader still covers your work, or whether you need one that also checks each creative against your brief, your price list and its other versions. LYNCE is the second kind.

imgProof is now Gard: what changed.
Taken from Gard’s announcement, published on 18 March 2026. If all you wanted was imgProof back, this section is the whole answer.
The name
IMGProof was renamed Gard. Gard describes it as the same product, rebranded and rebuilt, not sold to a different company. When we checked, imgproof.com redirected to trygard.com.
Your account
Existing accounts and memberships continue. You sign in at app.trygard.com with the same email and sign-in method you used for imgProof.
Where it runs
Then, mainly browser-based checks. Now, a web app plus Windows and macOS apps.
How files get in
Then, manual uploads. Now, uploads, batch scans and Watch Folders that check new exports as they’re saved.
What it checks
Visible text in JPG, PNG and WebP images and in PDF pages: spelling, grammar, punctuation, repeated words and awkward copy, in more than 50 languages, according to its site.
Why teams look for an imgProof alternative.
The typo wasn’t the expensive mistake
“Recieve” is embarrassing. A €45 ticket that the brief approved at €40 is a refund queue. A spell check reads both lines as acceptable English. Gard’s own guidance is to check offers, prices, dates and brand terms against the campaign brief yourself; LYNCE takes the brief as a reference file and makes that comparison for you.
Twelve sizes, one of them wrong
Campaigns ship as sets. When one banner missed the final edit, the problem isn’t spelling, it’s disagreement. LYNCE checks the versions you scan together against each other and flags the odd one out as an inconsistency.
The translation reads well and says the wrong thing
A fluent German line can still carry last month’s date. LYNCE checks each language version against the master you attach, so prices, dates and meaning are compared, not only grammar. More on translation QA.
The rename made you look
Fair enough. A change of name is a natural moment to check whether a tool still fits the job. If it does, stay; the section further down says when.
What an imgProof alternative has to add.
Keep the spelling pass: an alternative that catches fewer typos isn’t one. Then add the context layer, meaning the brief, the price list, the master copy and the other versions, read alongside the artwork.
In LYNCE, reference files don’t use credits. Findings are ranked must fix, inconsistency or worth checking, and each one is pinned on the artwork with a suggested fix, in under a minute. See what the AI image proofreader checks.

How LYNCE fits the work.
Images and multi-page PDFs
JPG, PNG and WEBP, plus PDFs read page by page, with the page named in each finding. 1 image or 1 PDF page is 1 credit. Brochures and catalogues are covered by the AI PDF proofreader.
Web and desktop
Run checks in the browser or import from a shared Google Drive folder. The Mac and Windows apps pick up new files from your export folders; they wait in a queue until you confirm, so nothing is checked or charged without you.
Reports people can open
Every scan becomes a report link that opens without a login, so the client or the account lead sees exactly the findings you do.
A person makes the final call
LYNCE suggests; your team confirms or rejects each finding. It is a second pair of eyes, not a sign-off.
When to stay with Gard (formerly imgProof).
Choose LYNCE if…
- Your expensive mistakes are factual: prices, dates, contact details, offers.
- You work from briefs, price lists or master copy and want every creative checked against them.
- You ship campaigns in many sizes and languages that have to agree with each other.
- You want findings ranked by severity, each with a suggested fix, in a report you can share.
Gard (formerly imgProof) fits better if…
- Your core need is spelling, grammar and punctuation on finished images and PDFs.
- You want new exports checked automatically the moment they’re saved, without a confirm step.
- You already have an imgProof account: Gard says it carries over, with no second account to create.
- You want to start on a free plan; Gard lists one on its site.
Gard and imgProof details are taken from Gard’s public website (trygard.com, including its announcement at trygard.com/blog/introducing-gard) as of 22 October 2026, and may change; verify current features and plans with Gard before deciding. When we checked, imgproof.com redirected to trygard.com. Where something wasn’t clearly documented there, we left it out rather than guess.
Fair test: run the same campaign through Gard’s free plan and LYNCE’s 7-day free trial, brief attached, then compare the findings.
