PageProof alternative

PageProof alternative: check the artwork against the brief

PageProof runs the approval, and its AI now suggests markup on the proof. LYNCE does one narrower job: it checks each finished file against this job’s brief, price list and master copy.

If you’re looking for a PageProof alternative, separate the two things PageProof does. It is an online proofing platform, with approval workflows, reminders and audit trails, and it has an AI layer, PageProof Intelligence®, that suggests markup on proofs and runs custom agents against your organisation’s rules. LYNCE is not a proofing platform. It is an AI proofreader for finished images and PDFs that checks every price, date, line of copy and translation against that job’s brief, price list and master copy, and against the other versions in the set, in under a minute. Use it on its own, or in front of PageProof.

PageProof details checked against pageproof.com on 22 October 2026.

Two reasons to look for a PageProof alternative.

You want a different proofing platform

Then you’re comparing workflow tools: Ziflow, Filestage, GoVisually, Approval Studio and others. LYNCE isn’t one. It doesn’t route proofs, chase reviewers or record approvals.

You want the content checked against this job’s documents

Then the question is narrower. Is €45 the price on this week’s list? Does the German version say what the English master says? Do the twelve sizes agree with each other? That’s the check LYNCE was built for.

What PageProof does, by its own account.

PageProof describes itself as online proofing software with AI-powered markup. Its site lists automated workflows that route proofs to the right people, decision thresholds for how many approvals a proof needs, automatic reminders, audit trails and a compare mode for versions. Reviewers open proofs from an email invitation without an account. It proofs everything from packaging and PDFs to websites, video and audio, with print tools such as ColorSep® separation previews and a barcode and QR code scanner, a long integrations list and ISO 27001 certification.

Its AI is substantial. PageProof Intelligence® includes PI Insights, AI-suggested markup on the proof, with spelling and grammar, layout inconsistencies, accessibility and copy anomalies among PageProof’s examples. PI agents are custom agents that enterprise teams configure to check proofs against their own rules, such as brand guidelines, packaging specifications, legal disclaimers and accessibility standards. PreProof™ applies checks while a document is still being designed, and Smart Check surfaces hidden file details such as fonts and colour profiles. PageProof says PI is opt-in and designed to support human judgement, not replace it.

How LYNCE differs from PageProof Intelligence.

PI agents are built around your organisation’s rules: what should be true of every proof. LYNCE starts from the other end. You attach the documents that are only true for this job, such as this month’s price list or the English master, and every finished file is checked against them and against each other.

Findings are pinned on the artwork, ranked, each with a suggested fix; a person makes the final call. Whether a PI agent can be set up around a per-job price list is a fair question to put to PageProof: its site describes agents in terms of an organisation’s own rules and requirements. PageProof details are taken from PageProof’s public website (pageproof.com, including its PageProof Intelligence page and PI agents article) as read on 22 October 2026, and may change; verify current features with PageProof before deciding. PageProof’s prices are deliberately not quoted: they change. Where a capability isn’t mentioned, that means we couldn’t find it documented there, not that it’s impossible.

Keep PageProof. Add the check.

For teams that rely on PageProof’s workflows, the useful question is order, not choice. LYNCE goes first, on the exported files; PageProof takes it from there.

Before the proof is created

Run the exported files through LYNCE with the brief, price list and master attached, fix what it finds, then create the proof. Everything PageProof does next, AI included, starts from files whose facts match the job.

In the proof

Add the LYNCE report link as a comment. Reviewers see what was checked, and against what, and spend their round on the work itself.

If you do replace PageProof

Only if the proofing platform was mainly a safety net for factual mistakes. LYNCE has no workflows, reminders, separation previews or video review; if you use those, keep PageProof. For long documents, see the AI PDF proofreader.

Who should pick which.

If you need routing, approvals and print checks, PageProof covers ground LYNCE doesn’t touch. If you need each file checked against this job’s documents, that’s what LYNCE does.

Choose LYNCE if…

  • The expensive mistakes are factual: a price, a date or a phone number that doesn’t match the source.
  • Every job has its own brief, price list or master copy, and each file should be checked against them.
  • You produce many sizes or language versions that must agree with each other and the master.
  • You want a findings report you can share as a link, without adopting a proofing platform.

PageProof fits better if…

  • You need the approval process itself: routing, decision thresholds, reminders and an audit trail.
  • You proof video, audio, HTML emails, live websites or Figma files as well as static artwork.
  • Print production matters: separation previews, barcode and QR code checks, hidden file details.
  • You want AI inside the proofing tool, with agents built around your organisation’s own rules.
